Why use air handling units?
JLA air handling units help to improve your indoor air quality by efficiently removing stale air, which in turn will cut the risk of allergies, smells, condensation, and problems caused by mould and damp.
AHU’s are often a smart choice for air management in larger buildings or facilities, too. Unlike individual air conditioning units, which are installed from room to room, our fully weatherproofed air handling units are placed together outside, using ductwork to circulate air. This simplifies maintenance and helps to reduce costs and disruption.

How does an air handling unit (AHU) work?
It’s best to think of an AHU as sitting right at the heart of your building’s ventilation system. The AHU manages air from both outside and inside, filters out dust and other allergens, and helps to make sure that the air circulating is just the right temperature and humidity. This fresher air is then circulated around the building through ducts.
What are the main parts of an AHU?
Air handling units come in all shapes and sizes, depending on your needs. But generally, an AHU will have three main components: air filters to ‘clean’ the air, fans to move air around, and elements to heat or cool the air. Working together, these components move air through a building’s ductwork and help to temperature in each room.
Can AHUs warm up a building?
AHUs technically only supply fresh air to a building, so they won’t warm a building on their own. However, they can help to heat up (or cool down) this fresh air by passing it over special coils.
How often should you get an AHU serviced?
Alongside regular routine checks, AHUs usually need inspections based on the amount of refrigerant they use. For units that use five TCO2, you’ll need an annual check. For units with 50 TCO2, you’ll need a service every six months. And if your system uses 500 TCO2 of coolant, it should be checked every three months.
