Whether you’re running a pub kitchen or a busy restaurant, you’ll know how important it is to keep those clean plates, cutlery and glassware coming.

Alongside commercial kitchen detergents – and some good old-fashioned elbow grease – commercial-grade rinse aid is a hard-working ally in the fight against stubborn stains, streaking and water marks.

But how does it work? In this guide, we will explain how rinse aid works and how it can help your in your kitchen.

Shinier, sparkling dishes and glasses

Commercial rinse aid is a surfactant which effectively lowers the surface tension of water. This means that, during a wash, the water will spread out in a thin layer across your dishes instead of forming droplets, then more easily slide away to leave items clean and streak-free.

Many businesses use rinse aid to keep their glassware gleaming and create the best possible impression for guests. Rinse aid is especially useful in hard water areas where limescale can have an impact, but it’s recommended for any kitchen to prevent water spots.

Speeds up drying times

As rinse aid helps water to sheet off surfaces, there’ll be very little water left on your dishes and glassware after the rinse cycle. This massively reduces the time it takes for staff to dry up, which is essential for quick turnaround times and responsive service in busy establishments.

Protects your equipment

Rinse aid will help to reduce food residue and hard water deposits inside your dishwasher or glasswasher, which should minimise the need for maintenance repairs while improving the general upkeep of the machine. Commercial rinse aid can even help eliminate odours by reducing moisture buildup in your machine.

Why is rinse aid popular in large commercial kitchens?

Designed to meet the demand of high-use kitchens in the catering and hospitality sectors, commercial rinse aid creates efficiencies in your kitchen by reducing drying times and protecting your valuable equipment.

JLA Ultra Rinse Aid

Available in 5L, 10L and 20L bottles, JLA Ultra Rinse Aid is trusted by commercial kitchens across the country to improve the finish quality of their glasses and dishes, and keep guests happy too.

With energy prices staying stubbornly high, this spring is an ideal time for organisations to review their commercial air conditioning systems and realise savings ahead of the warmest months.

And whether it’s changing the way you use your existing system, giving your units some TLC, or upgrading to newer, more energy-efficient models, there are lots of ways to get there.

Change employee habits and behaviours

While your system settings and setup are important, positive changes often start with employee training that covers how to operate your air conditioning system, as well as guidance for best practice.

This might mean stressing the importance of closing external windows and doors so hot or cold air can’t escape from the building (or hot air can’t come in). Or it could mean reminding employees to avoid misusing the system/over-compensating during variations in weather and temperature changes.

Other healthy energy-saving habits might include turning off systems in empty rooms, especially at the end of the day and over the weekend.

Stay on top of your maintenance

Taking good care of your air conditioning units with regular servicing doesn’t just help to keep everyone comfortable. It also protects your investment – and could even save you money in the long run.

Proactive servicing leads to greater energy efficiency and performance, and lower running costs. It also reduces the likelihood of costly repairs or disruptive downtime.

Upgrading old air conditioning systems with newer models

All commercial air conditioning systems lose efficiency with age, as their various components, like the compressor, tend to wear out. As a unit becomes increasingly inefficient, it will need more energy to perform, which will see your running costs – and carbon footprint – growing.

Newer units, on the other hand, use the latest advances in technology and are fitted with extra energy-saving features including compressors that ease off when a room has reached your specified temperature, so you aren’t wasting any extra power.

Replacing non-compliant systems with Mitsubishi commercial air conditioning

Since 2015, it’s been illegal to use R22 refrigerant to service and maintain air conditioning units – but many units still contain it. In fact, many building managers might not even realise that although it is still permitted to use existing R22 air conditioners and heat pumps, you cannot top them up with new R22 and therefore the units will need to be replaced.

Mitsubishi’s R32 Power Inverter models incorporate the firm’s unique ‘Replace Technology’ which allows contractors like JLA to upgrade systems using existing pipework, without the need for specialist cleaning.

Seasonal efficiencies with the latest Mitsubishi equipment

Mistubishi’s R32 Power Inverter can help you achieve high seasonal efficiencies thanks to its compressor design, coupled with the latest energy-saving technologies. ERP energy efficiency ratings of A++ are common right across the range, while annual power consumption has been drastically reduced for extra cost savings.

JLA’s commercial air conditioning solutions

As a Mitsubishi Diamond Quality Partner, JLA supplies and installs market-leading Mitsubishi commercial air conditioning units with high levels of service and ongoing support from our network of engineers across the UK.
